After Years of Upheaval, ATGI RRG Looks to Move Forward

With the North Carolina Supreme Court denying an appeal by Amrit “Andy” Singh (A. Singh), Eleazar Rojas, Shamsher Singh (S. Singh), and MVT Insurance Services (MVT) in their ongoing bid to regain control American Transportation Group Insurance Risk Retention Group, Inc. (ATGI), ATGI is looking to move forward as a viable risk retention group under the leadership of current ATGI President Michael Hunter.

ATGI is a North Carolina-domiciled risk retention group formed in 2018 formed to provide commercial auto liability to new ventures, to “the inexperienced driver who just got his commercial driver’s license, and these are tough markets that require diligent underwriting,” said Hunter.

Hunter first became involved with ATGI in December of 2019, after Andy Singh reached out to him on the recommendation of several business associates. At the time, ATGI had recently come to a voluntary settlement with North Carolina Department of Insurance (the Department) that barred them from writing any new business.
